SWAG is the joint research seminar of the Institute for Discrete Structures and Symbolic Computation (University of Stuttgart), the research groups Algebra und Combinatorial algebraic geometry (University of Tübingen) and the Institute of Algebra and Number Theory (University of Ulm). The focus lies on arithmetic, toric and tropical geometry, representation theory of groups and algorithmic methods. It takes place once per term at one of the three participating universities.
April 30, 2026 SWAG Meeting in Tübingen
The next SWAG meeting takes place on
Thursday, April 30, 2026
from 14:00 pm till 18:00 pm
at the University of Tübingen, Department of Mathematics,

Speaker:
14:00-15:00 pm: Walter Gubler (University of Regensburg)
Title: „A tropical formula for non-archimedean local heights“
Abstract:
Local heights measure the contribution of an archimedean place to the arithmetic complexity of a projective variety and were used in diophantine geometry. In this talk, we will give a tropical formula for the local height of a projective variety. As a main tool, we generalize Mihatsch's delta-forms to tropical toric varieties. This is joint work with Jose Burgos Gil and Klaus Künnemann.
15:00-15:30 pm: break
15:30-16:30 pm: Anda Degeratu (University of Stuttgart)
Title: „The geometry of crepant resolutions of Calabi-Yau orbifolds“
Abstract: In this talk I will present a general overview of one of my long term research projects in which I study the geometry of certain Calabi-Yau varieties. These varieties arise as crepant resolutions of Calabi-Yau orbifolds. The methods that I use are a combination of geometrical, algebraic, and analytical methods.
16:30-17:00: break
17:00-18:00: Daniele Agostini (University of Tübingen)
Titel: „An introduction to Prym varieties“
Abstract: Prym varieties are the most important examples of abelian varieties after Jacobians of curves. In this talk I will introduce them and present some open problems in the field.
